Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating 3.1
Single-User Version:
Please note that the Cost Estimating Software Version 4.0 (Multi-User Version)
has all the features of Version 3.1. To accomodate the additional features of Version 4.0, there are some changes in the screens of Version 3.1. Following are the salient features of Version 3.1
RESURGE Engine:
During the machining process-data entry, Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating software uses the special RESURGE Engine, developed by Simiax. The RESURGE Engine is the backbone of the Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating software. It uses material hardness, cutting tool type, machining specific data and calculates Machining Time, Cycle Times and estimates the cost. It eliminates the need and maintenance of large databases of materials and simplifies the cost estimating process for users.
The "RESURGE Engine" developed by Simiax is proprietary and is implemented exclusively in Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating software.

No Huge Materials Databases:
Our software eliminates the need to maintain and update huge databases of materials by utilizing Simiax's proprietary RESURGE Engine. This increases the efficiency of the cost estimating process helping to save the user's time and money that is otherwise wasted on maintaining the databases.

On-Line Help:
Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating comes with on-line help to increase the ease-of-use of our software. The online help describes the type of data required in various fields. It also provides explanations and clarifications on software instructions and functionality.

Machine Data:
Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating software maintains machine specific data such as machine/work center number, machining/work center type, description, cycle-time/machine-time ratio, machine cost, machine life, annual maintenance expense, operator labor rate, helper labor rate and setup labor rate. These values are used while performing the cost calculations.

Overhead and Markup Parameters:
Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating software maintains overhead related parameters data such as percentages of labor allowance, departmental indirect labor, scrap, manufacturing overhead, sales/admin overhead and markup/profit margin. The user can modify these parameters to fit his/her company policy and practices. This data is used for estimating the cost.

Process Data Entry:
Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating software allows the entry of manufacturing process data through an interactive screen. There are several fields In this screen, which are grouped in three separate groups/levels. Some fields have pull down list for the selection of the data. Data range validation is performed whenever possible. Data for some fields are calculated using data from other fields.
Once the process data of a part is entered, the user does not have to re-enter that data again. Simiax's "RESURGE Engine" estimates SFM and RPM for selected material type, tool type, depth of cut and feed per revolution. These estimated SFM and RPM are displayed in appropriate fields, which can be overridden by the user if desired.

Customer Data:
Simiax Manufacturing Cost Estimating software maintains customers' contact information. This information is used while preparing and printing quotes for various parts. Whenever a quote is printed, its data is saved in quotations history file. Quotations history data is displayed along with customer's contact information if desired.

Estimate Cost and
Print Quotations Using User Definable Quote Template:
After the Process Data of a part is entered in the system, the user does not have to re-enter it again. The process data of a part can be used again and again to estimate the manufacturing cost using this screen. Along with the process data, the software also uses parameters data such as various overheads, markup and profit rates. The cost estimating is done for three sets of quantities at a time. Each set contains the data for Order Quantity, Number of Lots and Quantity Discount % on Material. The results of estimated cost calculations are displayed.
From this screen, user can invoke another screen for printing quotations. Where he/she can setup a quote template, which can be used repeatedly. The estimated cost data can be included in the quote template as variables. The quotation can be exported as a text file and its data can be saved in history file if desired.

View Parts and Their Processes:
Parts and their processes can be viewed on one screen. This screen also allows modification of process data. Part numbers, their associated operation types and machining methods are shown in a hierarchical format. For the selected item, the process parameters and their data are displayed. This screen allows for copying, inserting, and deleting various items.
