Parse RDF Dumps from Open Directory Project:
iHierarchy parses RDF dumps from the Open Directory Project
(ODP) to provide concise directory information from which to build a vertical
portal. The data provided by the ODP represents a directory larger in size
and faster growing than Yahoo!.
Fully Customizable Templates: iHierarchy
uses Simiax's proprietary HTML template system, allowing for seamless integration
of the ODP into a website. Different HTML templates can be assigned to different
subcategories and specific categories.
Whole and Partial Directory Parsing: iHierarchy
can parse the whole ODP directory, or only a specified subset of the directory.
This allows for flexibility in the use of software, ranging from large portals
using the whole directory to small sites using site-specific topics.
Creation of Dynamic HTML: The dynamic HTML
version of iHierarchy generates pages dynamically, thus conserving hard disk
space in comparison to the static HTML version. Using a SQL database storing
the directory pages, iHierarchy is able to create HTML pages for the categories
on the fly.
Ease of Use: Requiring minimal user intervention
and configuration, iHierarchy completes creation of the directory in about
two hours (times will vary with different systems). Customization of output
can be done easily through HTML templates.
Compatible with most SQL Databases iHierarchy's
SQL version can harness the power of most SQL databases including Oracle,
PostgreSQL, MySQL, Sybase, and ODBC compliant databases (MSSQL Server, MS
Access, etc.).
